Teaching Abstinence to Teenage boys

I am Teacher at Mount Carmel Youth Ranch, I teach the young men that come into our program about the "gift of their sexuality". When they first hear this phrase from me it is interesting to watch their faces! They have looks that range from "say What" to "cool, did she just say what I think she said, Sex is a GIFT". I give them a few moments to let what I have said sink in, and then I continue with the lesson on why our sexuality is a gift, and as a gift needs to be respected and treated with a sense of sacredness. It is such a blessing for me to share the truths of our human sexuality with these young men (I also teach this same course to the young women who attend Trinity Teen Solutions )

"What I’ve learned at Mt Carmel Youth Ranch, since January 16, 2007 I’ve come to the classes almost every Friday . Within the last few months I have learned what it really means to be a man. The man is not just a person who hops around town and sleeps with every girl. The real man is a person who takes responsibility for his actions. I have also learned how to talk to people without getting any one angry or getting angry myself. I have learned helpful ways of getting my point across without getting in people’s faces. I have learned a lot during my time at Mt Carmel, thank you Mrs Susie."
